EFC Cadet Circuit – Novi Sad Results

For RDF’s first foray into international competition, Kalina traveled to Novi Sad, Serbia, for a European Fencing Confederation event for Cadet (U17) fencers. During her time there, she fenced at a local club and made some new friends! Her extended family enjoyed supporting her in person, and coach Kevin is grateful for their wonderful hospitality. At the tournament, she fenced well in a pool of strong fencers, but unfortunately didn’t make the cut into the direct elimination round, and she finished 115th.

Referee Clinic Trains and Tests New Officials

Hisham Abdelaziz put on a great referee seminar for referees and aspiring referees from several clubs in Iowa and the Midwest. He took us through USA Fencing’s standard refereeing topics and rules on Friday evening, and on Saturday he observed the referees officiating bouts in all three Olympic disciplines (foil, epee, and saber). Those who passed the written exam and did well in the practical portion can now referee at local tournaments!
