December NAC in Dallas Results

This weekend, Julia and Sarah competed in the North America Cup in Dallas, TX.

Sarah came out strong, and was third out of pools. She had a tough time focusing in her bout in the round of 32, so she ended 17th. New Schedule Starts January 5, 2015

Starting January 5th, we are making a few changes to our schedule. These new hours will help accommodate the changing schedule of some of our coaches, as well as bring our saber practice to a time that is accessible to more people. Due to the disparity of available coaching between epee and saber, we are dropping dues for saber-only members down to $10 per month. Monthly dues are still $40 for epee and epee/saber fencers.

The new 2015 schedule will look like this:

2nd & 4th Mondays of the month: (new schedule)
Youth Saber Practice: 5-6pm
Adult Saber Practice: 6-8pm

Tuesday: (same as before)
Conditioning: 6-7pm
Adult Epee Practice: 7-9pm

Wednesday: (new schedule)
Youth Epee Practice: 6-7pm
Adult: 7-9pm

Thursday: (same as before)
Youth Epee Practice: 5-6pm
Conditioning: 6-7pm
Adult Epee Practice: 7-9pm

Saturdays we will remain open on non-tournament weekends from 8-11am for conditioning and an open (both weapons) practice.

As in the past, adult saber fencers are welcome to come to conditioning and practice saber during the adult epee practice times – there just won’t be a saber coach there.

Holiday Hours

Red Door Fencing will be closed for a few short periods during the holiday season to let our fencers and coaches relax and spend time with their families.

We will be closed on:

Thursday and Friday, November 27th and 28th
Wednesday, December 24th through Friday, January 2nd
Snow fencers
And by relax, we mean build snow-fencers.

D & Under fencers

November to Remember D & Under Results

Today, three Red Door Fencers traveled to the Lincoln Fencing Club in Nebraska for their D & Under tournament. In US fencing, fencers are classified by how well they’ve done in tournaments and how strong/large those tournaments were. A is the top level, and E is the lowest classification besides U, for “unclassified”. This tournament was limited to fencers classified as D’s, E’s, and U’s, which makes it a great tournament for getting lots of practice against people of roughly similar skill. Here’s how the RDF fencers placed:

Mixed Epee:
Chris – 2nd
Julia – 10th
Sara – 13th

Everyone fenced well, and we want to specifically congratulate Sara on her first tournament! Check out the full results here: https://askfred.net/Results/results.php?tournament_id=27869

Here’s how they placed:

Senior Men’s Epee:
