Our youth practices are an hour and a half long and teach students the fundamentals of fencing: safety, basic actions, terminology, and theory that builds a solid foundation for continued development of the athlete. We start with warm-ups and stretching, and then proceed to drills and games that introduce important skills and ideas. Students will get to fence others in their practice group.
Our adult and teen practices usually last 2-3 hours (depending on whether or not you’re doing conditioning exercises). If you do not wish to participate in conditioning, please come 10-15 minutes early to start warming up as everyone else will have warmed up before conditioning. We will move into footwork and then drills, games, and actual fencing.
All equipment is provided, but students are encouraged to purchase their own equipment as soon as possible. Students should wear comfortable athletic clothes, specifically pants that allow full range of motion and close-toed shoes.
If you are not sure which practice group to join, talk to Coach Kevin or Coach Sarah, or call us at 329-0329 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
